Can I paint a Carbon Fiber Hood?
Absolutely, in fact it is very common in Japan to paint the carbon fiber hood to keep that clean single body color look. Also, if you ever damage your hood or if the finish starts to get dull you can always fix the hood, sand it and paint. Painting carbon fiber isn't much different than fiberglass, one thing you'll need to do is prep the part by fixing any imperfections, secondly you'll need to wet sand the hood so that the paint will stick.
Will the finish turn white and fade?
Any plastic, over time will eventually haze up over years. This is not just true for cf parts but for OEM plastic parts. If you've ever seen any headlights from the 90's like the 92-95 Civic OEM headlights or the 93-98 Supras you'll see that they have a strong yellow hue. Anti UV gelcoat helps, and most of our cf parts have this, but there is no such thing as a wet carbon fiber hood that's 100% immune to UV rays. Park your car in a shaded area or better yet park in the garage. Generally it is easy to bring a like-new shine to your old carbon fiber hood if it does fade.
How can I restore a carbon fiber hood?
Usually you don't have to buy a new Seibon carbon fiber hood to get that shiny carbon fiber look. We recommend lightly wet sanding the hood with 1000 grade sand paper, spray with clear coat and polish. This process usually restores the look to new or better for very little cost!

How much weight will I save
It depends on how much your original hood weighs, if you have an aluminum OEM hood (S2000, NSX etc) then you probably won't save any weight. If you have a super heavy OEM metal hood like the 3000GT, SC400, Supra you can save up to 40lbs!
Should I get a fiberglass hood instead?
Are you painting the hood? If so you might as well save some money and just get a fiberglass hood instead of a carbon hood, the weight savings between a fiberglass and cf is usually only five pounds so you might as well get a fiberglass one. "I like the way carbon fiber looks so I don't want to paint it." in this scenario you only choice is cf or carbon kevlar maybe texalium depending on the color of your car. If weight is your primary concern and price is last on your list then buy a dry carbon fiber hood.
