What’s the lowest allowed ground clearance in Nevada?

How low can you lower your car in the state of Nevada?  Since we sell body kits and carbon fiber parts here in Las Vegas we were concerned with legal ground clearance. I wasn't sure so I asked the highway patrol, here's the answer they gave me as of 11/21/11.  Good news, there's a few requirements as far as headlights are concerned, but it appears we have a good amount of freedom when choosing our ride height:

In answer to your question, as long as your vehicle does not scrape the ground causing sparks, etc. and your headlights are in accordance with the NRS Statute: 2. Every headlamp upon every motor vehicle shall be located at a height, measured from the center of the headlamp, of not more than 54 inches nor less than 24 inches to be measured in the manner set forth in NRS 484D.105. Then your ground clearance will be legal.

I have showed your question to a Captain and also a Lieutenant and these are the answers they have given me.  If you feel the need to speak with one of them, please contact me and I will put you in touch with them.

Thank you,

Linda

VIP Style Magazine – “Go Back to the MCC Zone” Engrish Humor

You can always expect to find some strange English phrases when browsing through Japanese car magazines.  It's half the fun of flipping through the pages!  It's tends to get wackier towards the end of the Magazine.  In the 2004 December Magazine of VIP Style you can find some great Engrish on page 223.

The "gal's" shirt reads:

Canned Text reply in eBay, save time with Firefox and Chrome!

Tired of retyping the same answer over and over again?

Do you ship to country XYZ?
Do you ship to a PO box?
How come you don't accept paypal internationally?

Fortunately if you use Firefox you can use an add-on called "Paste E-Mail Plus" that allows you to simply right click and choose the automated text reply of your choice. Google Chrome also has their version "Chrome Clipper". This can really come in handy, most of the questions I get are already in my listing but people don't read the full listing, it saves time and frustration to simply insert the text.

Here's some screen shots of the procedure:

Greyhound… is it inexpensive to ship with?

Sometimes people mention Greyhound as a method to ship body kits and carbon fiber hoods, the downside with Greyhound is that when you preform door to door delivery it can be very expensive. Just shipping a 15 lb bumper in a 70x42x24in box from MD to MO is $184.61! Were's talking less thane 890 miles http://goo.gl/maps/hUcQ
Don't forget that this doesn't include the custom box, packing tape, large amounts of bubble wrap, about $20 in materials are used just to package a body kit. Based on this quote I do not recommend using Greyhound door to door.

Carbon Fiber Credit Card

What would a carbon fiber credit card look like? Some of these new credit cards have something called "imagecard", basically you just upload a high res picture and they allow you to use it on your credit card. You can upload pictures of your friends or family, however they won't allow pictures of Anna Kournikova, I tried... twice... But I'll definitely settle for a carbon fiber look credit card. I'll be sure to post more pictures when it arrives in the mail :)

Tron Legacy, Flynn’s Safe House Illuminated Floor Panels

How hard would it be to make these?

In the movie Tron Legacy, Flynn has a safe house with illuminated tile flooring.   How hard would it be to make the illuminated tiles?

We could manufacture a fiberglass housing quite easily and if the transparent tile is glass or acrylic plastic I wouldn't imagine that would be too difficult to source.  I think the hardest thing would be an easy and economical way of lighting the floor evenly.  I would assume they used LED's but I really don't know how it was accomplished.  LED's might be too underpowered so florescent lighting might be the only way to go. The end result is amazing!

Check out R2-CM it looks like his illuminated bedroom project is coming along nicely.  http://darthmoose74.blogspot.com/2011/03/bed-frame-project-revealed.html
