Dodge Charger 06-10 Carbon Fiber Grille Project

Since we already have so many carbon fiber parts for the Dodge Charger 06-10 we decided to make a carbon fiber grille to match the carbon fiber SRT-8 Hood, which matches the carbon fiber roof cover, which matches the carbon fiber trunk :)

So here's the OEM grille, looks good, but why make the oem style, that's too boring..

What would be a good style? Something VIP  with lots of horizontal slats..

This is actually an OEM grille on the Nissan Q45 / Infiniti Cima F50

What about that same style applied to the Charger?

Ehhh, maybe not, it just doesn't flow.  Looks great on some Mercedes and large luxury Japanese sedans, for some reason the trapezoid shape of the Charger is actually opposite that of many other grilles.  I just can't picture a carbon fiber version looking that great, I'm sure it's possible in a chrome metallic type of finish with the right placement of the Benz / F50 style vip bars.  Something carbon needs to look sportier...

How about the 2011 look on the 06-10 grille?  Dodge styling, but with a refresh from the new model. The flattened cross looks much better than the rounded chrome version.

Now, that looks good, I can definitely picture that in carbon fiber with a black mesh grille.

What would it look like on a 2006?

Basically it would look like this but without chrome and in carbon fiber material. We would use a black diamond mesh, or maybe a oem-honeycomb looking one if we can find it.

So first we bought an oem grille..

We were able to pickup this used oem grille for $50 shipped on eBay.  What a deal :)

There are way too many tabs, the snap in (tab breaking) method really doesn't fly with carbon fiber.  We'll have to simplify this into a one piece mold and just use the outer screw holes for installation.

More pics to come..
